PARENT AND CAREGIVER DIGITAL CHILDCARE TRAININGS

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused tremendous hardship for families around the world. We are providing the tools and support necessary to reach and support parents during this difficult time.

Whole Child is addressing these challenges by providing relevant, timely, and impactful trainings digitally to educators in the early childhood care centers, and technical staff. Our online series of trainings aim to strengthen the capacity of the government of El Salvador to more effectively reach parents in low resource areas. Using innovative online interactions, case studies, videos, and parents' own experiences, parents learn how to provide fun, quality care to their children under very trying circumstances.

These online training programs are being rolled out monthly and have been extremely well received, leading to co-creation of plans and techniques for caregiving.

The topics of the online sessions include positive parenting, the importance of play, strengthening inter-relationships between parents and children, and developing routines with children. Whole Child is also building the capacity of early childhood center educators and managers to reach out to families and coach them through difficult situations that may arise within the extended household quarantine period.

Whole Child works largely with families and educators that often live in areas with poor internet service or connectivity. Therefore Whole Child is creating innovative ways to support distance learning and coaching with parents using phones, internet and "communities of practice". We plan to build networks of communities of learning that will be in place even after COVID ceases.

We are leveraging our 16 years of expertise of caring for children in limited resource settings to rapidly reach these families and provide them with childcare information and mentorship. Thank you for your continued support in this difficult time. We are actively working to insure that children and caregivers have the resources they need in this difficult time.
